MORE than 1,000 new scout members in the West Midlands have helped the movement achieve its biggest growth spurt since 1972, according to new figures.
Scouting in Birmingham and the Black Country has grown 2.7 per cent since January last year, helping UK membership reach 499,323. Teenagers were the fastest-growing age group in the region with 352 new members in the last year taking the total to 5,471 - 26.4 per cent more than 2001.See the full content of this document
