Summary
IF ANYONE cares to take note of the quote around the top pool in Dhruva Mistry's The River (Victoria Square), they will realise it belongs to TS Eliot. It comes from his poem "Burnt Norton", the first of the Four Quartets.
It was 75 years ago this month that Eliot wandered into the grounds of Burnt Norton near Chipping Campden. He was with his friend Emily Hale. This visit inspired the poem. The quote around the pool starts "And the pool was filled with water out of sunlight...". The inscription was beautifully carved by Bettina Furnee.See the full content of this document
