WARWICKSHIRE'S passage to the Clydesdale 40 final at Lord's has been crafted by plenty of solid work in the group stage over several months - but also owes a bit to one minute of magic from Darren Maddy last Saturday.

With three overs remaining, last weekend's pulsating semi-final at Scarborough was still finely balanced. All day it had lurched one way then the other but had tilted again slightly the way of Yorkshire. The home side had just got rid of Ian Bell and the Bears, with two newish batsmen at the crease, needed another 23 from 18 balls.
