CHRISTMAS is back on track in Birmingham, according to the Lord Mayor as thousands of people watched yesterday's traditional Christmas reindeer and lantern parade.

After the terrible events in nearby Millennium Point on Saturday, when the Christmas lights switchon had to be cancelled, it was left to Santa Claus to perform the countdown yesterday before the colourful parade set off from High Street. The parade was led by Santa with the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress riding in century-old Scandinavian sleighs pulled by reindeer from a farm near Birmingham, passed along New Street and Corporation Street, through Paradise Forum into Broad Street, before ending up in Brindleyplace.
