PDSA VET IAN FLEMING ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS QMy dog snores quite loudly. Why is this and how can I stop him? Leo ACertain breeds of dog, such as Pugs and Bulldogs, are more likely to snore because of the way they have been bred. Alternatively, snoring-type noises can begin if a problem occurs in the upper airways. If your dog has always snored this might not be anything to worry about. However, if it is a recent development you should get him checked by your vet.
QAll the cats I have ever had have suffered with cancer, and I think that this is because they have all been white. How can I protect my cats and prevent any future ones from getting cancer too? Holly AI'm sorry to hear that all of your cats have developed cancer. That they were all white could be a coincidence, but white cats are prone to developing a certain type of cancer called squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). This particularly affects areas of the body where the fur is thin, such as the ears, nose and eyelids. SCC in white cats develops as a result of exposure to the sun, therefore, the best way to protect white cats from this disease is to protect their skin. In strong sun you should apply pet sun block to vulnerable areas with thin fur (e.g. ear tips), and perhaps keep them indoors during extremely sunny weather.See the full content of this document
