A MUM has avoided jail after she fiddled nearly pounds 22,000 in benefits. Kerry Rawlings claimed income support over a sixyear period as a single parent when she was living with a partner, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told. Judge Michael Dudley told the mother-of-three it was clear she knew she was doing wrong, adding: "You should have been honest." Rawlings, 32, of Whitgreave Court, West Bromwich, admitted failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions of a change in circumstances.

Jas Mann, defending, said Rawlings had a new partner. Rawlings was given a 12-week jail term suspended for a year and ordered to do 180 hours' community punishment.
