LECTURERS at a major Birmingham college were striking today in protest at almost 80 redundancies - despite being told it was fighting for its survival.

Members of the University and College Union walked out of City College Birmingham, which has 25,000 students across nine campuses, following a 95 per cent 'yes' vote in favour of striking.
