Summary
R otary reached the United Kingdom (which included the whole of Ireland at the time) in March 1912 with the chartering of the Rotary Club of Dublin, closely followed by the formation of the Rotary Club of London a few months later. The following year, clubs were established in Birmingham, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester. In 1914, these eight "founder clubs" formed the British Association of Rotary Clubs, which later became known as Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI). RIBI is an integral part of Rotary International and today is home to 1,840 clubs totalling more than 55,000 members.
