Houllier: I'm Proud to Lead Villa ; We Have Eight Games, Eight Fights, Eight Battles and Eight Wars to Get the Points... Houllier's Proud to Lead Villa

Summary

GERARD Houllier admits he is still proud to be the boss of Villa despite their precarious league position. The Frenchman has had a tough six months since arriving in the Midlands but is still determined to succeed at the club, who sit just one point above the drop zone. Before Houllier took over Villa had finished in the top six for the past three seasons under Martin O'Neill. However, this season they have underperformed and still face a massive challenge to stay in the Premier By Gregg EvansLeague.

The beleaguered boss is aware of the task ahead and insists he is fully focused on achieving top- flight survival. "I am totally immersed in the job and I will say three words on this - pride, because I am the manager, pleasure and a challenge because sometimes you have to battle. "At the moment we are fighting adversity and we have to confront that head on. "Fighting this has been a challenge for me and we wish we would have had a more positive objective but these eight games are very important for the end of the season and the future. "The challenge after that is to create our own history but at the moment we stay humble and for now our ambition is to succeed in our league of eight games." After weeks of off-field problems it's refreshing to hear Houllier talking so passionately about the club he is managing.
