TRAINEE West Midlands firefighters raised pounds 2,000 for a footballing hero's cancer charity. While learning the ropes at West Midlands Fire Service's training centre, the recruits staged sponsored events for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.

The fund was set up in memory of the England football captain who led the team to World Cup victory in 1966 but died from bowel cancer, aged just 51.
