BOSSES at Birmingham City Council have slashed pounds 30 million from the bill for consultants following growing concern about the cost of hiring outside help.

Last year the city spent pounds 60 million on wages for private sector experts working on a range of projects including the new Library of Birmingham and the Big City Plan, the scheme for shaping the city centre over the next 20 years.
