FORGIVE my ignorance but what has been done to prevent the spread of swine flu in the world in general and this country in particular? As far as I can see, nothing. Why then has a Midlands professor been awarded a new year honour for his work on the pandemic? It really is a joke.
The only plan to counter the threat posed by this disease was to cross the fingers and hope. All the so-called experts were whistling in the dark and were clueless. Comparatively few deaths were due to extreme good fortune and in no way clinical expertise.
