THIS was the tense moment a huge crane was brought in to pull a car transporter back onto the M6 as a 20-minute tailback of Midland motorists built up just yards away.

The transporter left the road yesterday at around 7am near Penkridge, coming to rest against a crash barrier. It had been heading northbound between junctions 12 Cannock and 13 Stafford.
