Car Market Set for Sales Boost

Summary


SALES of new cars rose for the second month running in August thanks to the Government's scrappage scheme, figures are expected to show tomorrow.

The car market bounced back from its prolonged downturn in July with a 2.4 per cent rise in sales - the first for 15 months - boosted by the scrappage scheme which offers customers who trade in cars ten years old or more pounds 2,000 off the price of a new one.
