LOTTERY winners Philip and Sandra Sawyer, who scooped pounds 2.6 million, were facing eviction from their council house before their big win, the Bir-r mingham Mail can reveal.

The high school sweethearts, who hit the jackpot last week, had been full-time carers of Sandra's sick mother Kathleen Austin at her three-bedroom house in Shard End, but were given notice to leave by Birmingham City Council in January, two months after she died.
